VHS/Super VHS/VHS-C

VHS: Standard home recording media that was replaced by DVD's in the early 2000's

Super VHS: An improved version of VHS that has a higher video and audio quality over the previous version. It is the same size with minor visual differences.

VHS-C: A compact version of VHS that can be used in a standard VHS player with an adapter. The format was primarily used in small camcorders for widespread consumer use.

Records/Cassettes

Records: A vinyl disc that is used solely for audio playback. Revered as the best audio quality.

Cassette: Also a media type used solely for audio playback, the Compact Cassette replaced the 8-track tape for common consumer use. The cassette was later replaced by the CD during the digital era.
